THE LONG WINDING SHORES \ BRITISH AIRWAYS COMMISSION

The Long Winding Shores was a recent commission painted for British Airways' Aberdeen Lounge. I wanted to make a painting that was inspired by our annual trips to the West Highlands to Kinlochewe & Loch Maree. I made the painting over the course of 4 or so months, gradually building up layers.

The title of the painting comes from the song 'The Summer Walkers' by Scottish band Runrig:

"And it's up by the Shin
And up by the 'Naver
And the long winding shores
Of Loch Maree"
